An Evening with Te Awhina Arahanga: Maori Today

A Devonport Library Associates and Friends of the Michael King Writers' Centre event, at the Devonport Library. 

Te Awhina Arahanga holds the Maori Writer's Residency at the Michael King Writers' Centre. During her residency, she will work on a collection of short stories. She has also been working on a collection of poetry and on a social history about fish and chips. While she holds her residency, Te Awhina will be involved with A Million Poems for Matariki workshops in schools and with community groups. Originally from Christchurch, Te Awhina has worked as a teacher and has worked extensively in museums and visitor centres, researching and preparing intepretation and displays. She holds a Ministerial appointment to the Aoraki Conservation Board. 

The evening will begin with a Powhiri at 7 pm, followed by kai. Te Awhina will speak at 8.30 pm about Maori Today.
