The Write Good Stuff Children's Writing Residency at the Michael King Centre in Devonport, Auckland

Come and write the next Harry Potter in Auckland!

Write Good Stuff is thrilled to join forces with the Michael King Writers's Centre in Devonport to offer a children's writing residency for eight to ten weeks between July and Septemeber 2008.

Write Good Stuff is run by successful children's writer, Jill Marshall, author of the popular Jane Blonde series of books. Jill, who teaches writing workshops through her consultancy, decided to support the residency to foster new children's writing.

The children's resident will be able to use the front bedroom at the centre to live and to work. Facilities include a double bedroom, with ensuite bathroom, work desk, and shared used of the kitchen and house facilities. During the residency, the writer will work on a manuscript for children. The residency includes:

- Up to ten weeks paid accommodation at the Michael King Writers' Centre in Devonport, between July and September 2008;
- Mentoring from Jill Marshall;
- The possibility of access to an agent at the end of the project;
- Access to the local writing and school community in Devonport;
- A training course with Write Good Stuff at the end of the tenure.

It does not include travel or living costs.

Potential applicants should send a one-page CV, a synopsis or outline of the proposed project, and a sample of up to 10,000 words to Write Good Stuff, PO Box 46-116, Herne Bay, Auckland, by no later than 30 June 2008.

Applications do not need to be published already, and may be published in other genres.
