Workshops for Young Writers (2010)
Mar 2010
The Michael King Writers’ Centre held a series of four workshops for promising young writers from North Shore secondary schools in March. The tutors were Ros Ali and Jo Emeney. Prominent local writers were involved, including poets Michele Leggott, Jack Ross and the writer-in-residence at the Michael King Writers' Centre, Martin Edmond. After the final workshop, on Sunday 28 March, Friends of the Michael King Writers’ Centre on Mt Victoria put on a BBQ for the students and their families. The workshops were offered with the support of the North Shore City Council’s Creative Communities Scheme. They were open to senior students who have shown promise in creative writing, nominated by their schools.
