Lana Lopesi: 2021 Emerging Pasifika Writers Residency

We have welcomed Lana as our fourth writer-in-residence for the year. Lana is an editor, critic and author based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Since 2012 she has published extensively on New Zealand and art in local and international publications. In 2018 Lana published her debut book False Divides (Bridget Williams Books) and in 2019 she co-edited the book Transits and Returns (Vancouver Art Gallery; Institute of Modern Art).

During her residency Lana is working on her second manuscript – a work that seeks to build a speculative concept of Samoan feminism as experienced in 2020 by oscillating between creative non-fiction and academic essays.
